Recently, Iranian regime’s Ministry of Intelligence (MOIS)has re-launched a website named Ashraf News to attack and demonize its democratic opposition mainly the MEK. This website, after being relaunched has added pages in Albanian language to its previous original Arabic pages. It also publishes articles in English. The MOIS’s website has started using an Albanian person, Gjergji Thanasi to fill its Albanian pages with vilifications and obscenity attacking MEK.

When the Ashraf and Liberty camps housing MEK members in Iraq were subjected to terrorist attacks by the mullahs' agents from 2009 to 2016, then MOIS launched a website in Arabic which was ironically named as "Ashraf News". The MOIS pretended that this was an Iraqi website to defame the organization and undermine it before the Arab public opinion with a policy to justify terrorism and attempts to destroy MEK in Iraq. However, after the departure of MEK members from Iraq in 2016, the website's operation stopped. The MOIS is trying to use the same policy in Albania by launching Albanian websites and utilizing individuals likes Gjergji Thanasi.

On 21 September 2020, a prominent Middle East daily, Riyadh Daily run an article shedding further light on the Ashraf News website. It wrote:” Ashraf News is in fact managed from Iran, specifically from the city of Qom. Its domain was registered by a company called CSL Computer Service Langenbach GmbH in Germany.

This website was registered in December 2012, at the height of the Quds Force attacks led by Qassem Soleimani, and when the regime’s ambassador to Baghdad was Danaifar. In cooperation with the Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, they launched a psychological war against the PMOI] MEK[
